Sarah Evans Peery Cemetery, Grundy County, MO
This cemetery is located in Madison Township; S9-T61N-R25W. It is on a farm owned by Homer Hooper and is in a corn field back off the north-south road about 1/4 mile. The fence is gone and old brush has grown to trees in the cemetery. In 1964, so far, we have been able to learn the name of this cemetery or any other information concerning it. The puzzling situation is that, within a mile is buried Sarah Peery's son Robert who died 25 Dec 1849; she died 13 Feb 1849 and is buried separate from her three sons: Robert, George and Evans. All three sons had family cemeteries on their farms in Madison Township, all of which were established in 1849, the time of her death. It is possible that she was living with a daughter, Cynthis Peery GIBSON, and was buried there, where she lived.
There are a total of 12 unmarked native stones in the cemetery. The cemetery was catalogued in 1964.
These cemetery records will no longer be updated effective December 2016.
